The Geodesy and Seismology Group (GSG) is part of the Marine Geology and Geophysics Division at the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS). The GSG state-of-the-art research techniques include: Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), Global Positioning System (GPS), Ground-based Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), Seismic tomography and Earthquake relocation. These techniques are applied to quantify and evaluate changes in the Earth's land and water surfaces. Our applications involve: seismology, crustal deformation, cryosphere studies, vegetation monitoring, hydrology, carbon sequestration and subsidence of urban and coastal areas. Our work is sponsered by the "National Science Foundation (NSF)", the "National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)", the "Department of Energy (DOE)", the "United States Geological Survey (USGS)" and the "South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD)" .
